After years of book swaps, we’re inviting our reading community to go a little deeper. We're teaming up with our fave book connoisseur Charlee of Grandpas Book Club to sink our teeth into some great new reads.
Every second month, we’ll gather at Gracie's Wine Room in Melbourne to share dinner and discuss a pre-selected book together. Expect lots of delicous bites along with two drinks, and thoughtful conversation with people who love reading as much as you do. This month we will be reading Transcription, Ben Lerner.
The narrator of Ben Lerner's new novel has travelled to Providence, where he is to conduct what will be the final published interview with Thomas, his ninety-year-old mentor, and the father of his college friend, Max. But after the narrator drops his smartphone in the hotel sink, he arrives at Thomas's house with no recording device, a fact he is mysteriously unable to confess.
We seat everyone around 30 minutes after the listed arrival time. This gives you breathing room if traffic runs late and allows everyone to arrive without stress. Once you arrive, you’ll always have a designated seat waiting for you. We don’t do name tags, but we do believe in making sure you feel safe, settled, and like you have a place at the table from the moment you walk in.
Most of our meals are shared, so for this event we snack on Gracie's famous share plates while we chat books!
We happily cater to dietary requirements when they’re shared with us at least 72 hours before the event. This allows our venues to plan properly and make sure everyone is looked after.
Because we lock in numbers, food, and seating close to the event, we’re unable to offer cancellations or date swaps within 72 hours. We recommend treating your ticket like a concert ticket — once it’s yours, it’s locked in.
